Sony ancora una volta è in prima linea nell'innovazione tecnologica del settore imaging, infatti le prestazioni della nuova Alpha 9 garantiscono sicuramente il primo posto tra tutte le fotocamere full-frame esistenti sul mercato al momento della sua uscita. Il sensore full-frame CMOS da 24,2 megapixel, retroilluminato e con progettazione stacked, accoppiato a memoria e processore Bionz X, un sistema di autofocus a 693 punti, per una precisione assoluta e possibilità di registrare video in 4K con stabilizzatore a cinque assi, assicurano performance al topo della categoria. L'Alpha 9 può scattare con raffiche fino a 20 fps (241 RAW compressi) e al contempo continuare a calcolare messa a fuoco ed esposizione a 60 fps, stesso frame rate a cui vengono mostrate le immagini nel live feed (su mirino o schermo) senza alcun tipo di interruzione.
Il fatto che l’otturatore è sia meccanico che elettronico aiuta a ridurre le vibrazioni e porta la sincronizzazione flash a 1/250 di secondo. Notevole, ma non è finita qua. La fotocamera ha anche un sistema di autofocus e tracciamento del soggetto (Eye AF) migliorato che non teme fino a -3 punti EV con una lente f/2, quindi guadagna due stop rispetto alla A7R II. I punti per del sistema AF sono ben 693 (phase detection) e coprono il 93% dell’inquadratura.
